The Congress | Call for papers

Call for Papers 36 entries chosen for the UIA Congress


The main and special sessions of the congress will also be composed of 36 entries selected through an international call for papers:
6 Greek, 5 Turkish, 4 Italian, 4 Iranian, 3 American, 2 Chinese, 2 Japanese, 1 South African, 1 Russian, 1 Polish, 1 German, 1 Romanian, 1 Spanish, 1 English, 1 Argentine, 1 Brazilian, 1 Iranian.

Papers were received in two successive stages. In the first stage (entries of 1000 characters) there were 642 abstracts (95% in English, 5% in French) thus distributed: 329 entries in the Culture category (divided into two groups), 168 in the Democracy category, 145 in the Hope category.

54 abstracts
were selected in the first stage and invited to participate in the second (7,500 characters for the final draft) but only 49 were received.

To the jury members (who had no access to provenance and author data) was suggested a rating method that could balance evaluation results, expressed in thirtieths. It was decided to consider suitable the entries with an overall rating of at least 22 points, gotten by adding together judgments regarding:

- the entry's pertinence to the theme and the sub-category
chosen by the candidate (1 to 10 points)
- innovation in the scientific elements contained in the abstract (1 to 10 points)
- originality of expression, type of entry and communicative worth (1 to 10 points).


The following Turin Polytechnic professors and researchers at cultural and scientific institutions served as jurors:

for the Culture category
