The Congress is to be held at Lingotto, a conference complex featuring a Congress Centre linked, by means of a covered walkway, to an exhibition area housing five marquees.
Previously the site of a FIAT factory, built between 1917 and 1920, and converted following the designs of Renzo Piano into a modern, multifunctional centre comprising, in addition to the Congress Centre and the Exhibition Centre, a shopping-mall with more than 100 shops, 16 food outlets, 2 hotels from the chain Le Meridien, 3,000 car parking spaces and a multi-screen cinema.
The complex also features a Business Centre housing numerous commercial offices and a university faculty.
The Centre also features plenty of green areas and on the roof of the central building, on the site of the old FIAT test run track, Renzo Piano has positioned the famous "Bolla" and, as of 2004, a picture gallery called the "Scrigno", where a private collection of contemporary art is on exhibition.
The Lingotto Centre will host all the Congress sessions and the trade fair.
