LA CITTÀ DISEGNATA DAGLI ARCHITETTI (A city shaped by architects) sequence of 5 exhibits dedicated to the architects who made Turin a capital The XXIII UIA World Congress Torino 2008 will bring thousands of architects and architectural students to Turin, a tourist category both "courted" and enthusiastic, ideally suited to appreciate and communicate the beauty of a city and an area with uncommon authority and fervor, certain to produce a multiplier effect on the image of the places they visit. The sequence of 5 shows has been planned with great care, specifically for this unusual audience, with each location featuring great architects of the past who worked in Turin and the Piedmont, realizing extraordinary buildings and designing entire city neighborhoods. Palazzo Reale, San Filippo Neri (seat of the MIAAO) and Palazzo Bricherasio are in and of themselves prestigious and striking venues, simultaneously container and content for the exhibits in the sequence, thanks to their concrete and tangible documentary value in illustrating how the great architects of the past interpreted their role. The exhibits provide an opportunity to admire, in an integrated sequence, drawings, models, writings, sketches, albums and virtual reconstructions, all aimed at illustrating the history of Turin and the surrounding area, instruments that will recalibrate the way we see the great open-air museum that is the city.
