Young Architects from Germany
June 26 - July 6
Politecnico Torino, Lingotto Politecnico al Lingotto Via Nizza 230, Turin 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Free admission The exhibit presents international projects designed by young German architecture firms working in building, interior design, city planning and landscape architecture. Fourteen projects illustrate designs typical of the tasks currently given architecture and city planning, taking into account essential criteria such as sustainability, innovative technology and a future-oriented approach. They demonstrate the current attitudes young architects take, expressed on the level of reusing, integrating and newly developing existent building assets. How do they stand up to the particular challenge of increasing globalization, a trend to homologation and destruction of the traditions linked to buildings? What strategies are used to enhance historical architectural heritage and local building traditions? Through individual projects attention is focused on these questions and on the need for a shrewd use of finite resources as well as on the anything but negligible impact of demographic and economic development. The projects are presented to the public using a clear and tangible approach, with a multimedia route that can be taken inside houses.
