The art, architecture and design exhibit at the MIAAO, curated by Enzo Biffi Gentili and Luisa Perlo in the splendid San Filippo Neri complex, designed by Juvarra, focuses on urban design as treated by the historic Biella-based avant-gardists and on contemporary international ceramic sculpture juxtaposed against the statuary sculpture of the Sacro Monte of Oropa. The exhibit includes a section curated by Paolo Portoghesi on designs done by Guarini, Juvarra and Antonelli for the Oropa Sanctuary (in 2003, Unesco declared the Sanctuary and the Sacro Monte to be World Heritage Sites). This is therefore very pertinent to the exhibition theme "The city designed by architects" and permits the reconstruction of a fascinating querelle   on the architectural styles popular among numerous planners over time, with varying degrees of success.
